The Game - 1

Time of the day : 10.00 P.M.

Boss: Hey Fresher!! Whats up.
Fresher: Hi Boss.Things are good.
Boss: So you all set to watch the football match tonight.I saw you were pretty much excited about it in the evening.
Fresher: Yes Boss.Cant wait to watch.
Boss: Cool. Whom do you think will win today.
Fresher: I think Brazil has every chance, if Ronaldinho is at his full fitness. Also Rooney looks in terrific form. But I think a midfield with Kaka,Robinho and strikers Ronaldo and adriano and Dida in goal it should be a cake walk.
Boss:oh..You know a lots about the game.So there is still chance for Rooney to help portugal to victory tonight.
Fresher:Boss, Rooney doesn't play for Portugal. He plays for England, The match is between Brazil and England .
Boss: Oh..Ok.I thought he was playing for portugal and there is a lot of talk against this youngster.Whats his name.
Fresher: Think you are talking about c.ronaldo.
Boss: Oh..yeah.Its great that you have some passions like this man.It will always help you improve the quality of work you do.And to be honest its not easy to find people like you with varied interests.Keep it going.
Fresher: Sure Boss.
Boss: One more thing, I almost forgot. You remember this status sheet, that we created today about the status of the product.
Fresher: Yes Boss. The one about the XYZ product to be released next month.
Boss: yeah..exactly.can you do me a favour, could you please send it to XYZ.They wanted by EOD and I forgot to send it.
Fresher: Not a problem boss. Will do it in next 15 mins.
Boss: Oh..cool.BTW dont ride your bike fast to reach office in 15 minutes.Be careful while riding, particularly the IT highway is not too safe.
Fresher:Boss I dont have to ride my bike for I'm still at office.
Boss: Really..I dint know that.Ok..After sending the email go home and enjoy the match.

The fresher fails to understand what the last sentence meant, spends 10 more minutes reading the build up for that night's match within which he gets a reply from XYZ with lots of questions about status and Fresher ends up replying those questions by calling his boss. It further triggers lots of mails back and forth which delays him.No wonder by the time he went home Brazil had already won the match.

A couple more games to follow...

Schumi wins

Not very often a Formula 1 race is so interesting when the track doesn't offer too many overtaking oppurtunities. But I would still call the concluded 2006 San Marino grand prix an exciting one, just because Schumi won it.How long have I waited to see this moment - Schumi with his trademark leap at the podium - absolutely fantastic.

Pics courtesy:bbc.co.uk
Though Alonso was pretty good and had a better car with him, he wasn't able to overtake Schumi who was at his defensive best(holding off Alonso right after the first pit stop). And this is what Schumi had to say about the track "We have learnt from the past that overtaking is nearly impossible in this circuit unless someone makes a mistake." Obviously he was refering to the 2005 grand prix where Alonso held Schumi to win the race and this time it was the other way round.

So Renault's be aware, after all its not going to be that easy this year to sing Queen's 'We are the champions'.While i'm hooked on to DJ visage, make sure that you are not made to scream Linkin park's
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall(or hit a Chicane :-) )
to lose it all

at the end of the season.Thats supposed to be a WRC track.:-D

PS: Thanks to some network problem with aircel in my area, the sms I sent was not delivered in time and I had to stay indoors with no other option than to watch the grand prix. Finally it was really worth it.

Tirupathi

Two things that comes to mind instantly, when you think about 'Tirupathi'

Govindaa..Govindaa
Thalai - mottai

Disclaimer: The intention of the post is to describe a couple of traits about the temple 'Tirupathi' and any resemblances to a new movie released or comments about it is purely coincidental.

Uthiramerur

Last weekend Bala,Prabhakar,Srini and I had been to the temples in and around Uthiramerur.

At first we went to Thirumalai Vayaivur temple, near vedanthangal. It is a pretty old temple and is located on a hillock. You get to see a pretty nice view of the villages and fields around. It is being renovated and well maintained. We were surprised to see a group of kids visiting the temple from the nearby Govt High school.Looks like a weekend outing for them. A very nice gesture to be appreciated. Additionaly had there been a history teacher along with them who could explain something about the temple it would have been great. May be its asking too much.

Then we visited the temples at uthiramerur(Refer Ferrari's blog for the details). There is a very small vaikuntha perumal temple(pretty close to the market) whose sannidhi appears to be closed, but is still worth a visit.Simply because the inscriptions on the walls of the temple details the ancient 'Kudavolai' method of electing the chief of the area(area known as 'kudumbi' in tamil). The imperial cholas were famous not only for their valour, their support for art and architecture, devotion towards god etc., but for their admistrative skills. 'Kudavolai' method stands as a fine example. Its a very simple technique, but the rules and regulations were explained perfectly to the point and I'm sure there is no room for any ambiguity like what exactly does 'an office of profit' mean. For the first time I was surprised to find out that ASI doesn't allow people to photograph the inscriptions on the wall.I'm not sure if it is ASI's rule or the caretaker's. Since ASI is one organisation we respect we did obey it. Things like 'kudavolai' technique really make us feel proud about our own history.

Buried in our thoughts about the glorious past we went to Thirupulivanam, only to find the great history of Cholas in shambles.Shambles wouldn't have worried me too much, but its the sh*t that blew us off.yeah..I mean it. The mandapam outside the temple is being used by locals as a 'ilavasa kazhipidam'(Free toilet). Infact thats no ordinary mandapam, it has been designed to look like a Chariot with beautifully decorated wheels on the sides. And if you enter the mandapam deep in thoughts about the great kings then you will definitely step on shit.Still no worries, why do you think there is a pond outside the temple, next to the mandapam. Of course it looks dirty, but good enough to clean the dirt from your feet. I do sometimes feel that some of the God fearing superstitious beleifs must be supported, because only fear against evil/God can stop these people from doing such things. Had there been a Hanuman/Narasimhar sculpture identified in the mandapam, things would have been different.

Lalu's Train ?

TTR : Can you show me your Ticket please?
A group of Biharis : Ticket..what is that?
TTR : Dint you buy one for travelling from you place to here.
Some one from the group: No.Why should we.After all we are travelling by our Lalu's train.

If you thought this was a joke aimed at people from Bihar, then you are wrong.
Looks like a group of 500 Biharis travelled by train from Bihar to Chennai and then to Rameshwaram. But not even one soul bothered to purchase a ticket.Yeah..they have travelled all the way ticketless. The reply from a woman when questioned by the authorities here "How could you ask us for tickets when we have travelled in our own Lalu’s train?". :-)
Also they have paid a penalty of a meagre 4000 rupees and the loss is estimated to be around 1.5 lacs.

Read the whole news here (requires registration).

I have heard a lots of news about ticketless travel within Bihar, but nothing like this till now.
"aaahhaahhh..oru kroupa thaanya alayaraanga"

PS: I feel sorry for the Railway authorities who questioned these people.
